What Our Volunteers Do

There are many ways to get involved, whether by helping the kitchen team, collecting donations, sorting bags, delivering meals and food parcels to the community or assisting at community events.

We are always on the lookout for individuals with transferable skills to help us in our day-to-day operations.

Whatever your skills or passions, we have a role for you!  One Vision Volunteer says “It’s fantastic that I’m able to volunteer, to bring my little grain of sand to One Vision. It’s like a breath of fresh air since I joined last year, as I’m on my own. To be able to come here and socialise with different people from different backgrounds has been amazing. I always look forward to coming. I’m very grateful and consider One Vision as my family. ”

Youth Volunteer Programme

Young people  (under 25) can join our Youth Volunteer Programme.

The Youth Volunteer Programme enables you to experience what volunteering is all about.

You can support the work of our Food Hub, volunteer in the kitchen or assist with events organised by the Watford Youth Council.

Through the Youth Volunteer Programme, you can build new relationships, develop life and employability skills and learn more about Watford and its communities.

One Vision provides a safe space and a welcoming environment for volunteers from different backgrounds.Volunteering at One Vision helps people to give back to the community, meet new friends, learn new skills and find new passions. It improves mental and physical wellbeing and helps people find a new purpose in life.

You don't need to be an experienced volunteer to join the One Vision Volunteer team, as we provide all the training and support that you need to thrive in your new role.

By giving a few hours a week to volunteering, you'll be doing your bit to create a better community.

Volunteer Stories

Savannah and Phalgun
Savannah and Phalgun are Year 9 pupils currently taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award program.

With the pandemic preventing normal volunteer opportunities from taking place, their parents approached One Vision to ask for volunteering hours.

Savannah completed an exercise in researching competitor information around organisations that are similar to One Vision. Phalgun researched online directory services that enable users to filter the information by Faith, Ethnicity and Language.

Savannah, Phalgun and their families were happy that they were helping their community. Phalgun’s father said: “Phalgun really appreciates your note. He spent around 6-7 hours overall to understand what other organisations are doing and also educating himself on what charity means”.

Ben and Monica
Ben and Monica are husband and wife who, together with their daughter, volunteer at our food hub and deliver food to the local community.

After Ben and Monica filled out our Volunteer Form, our team identified that they have transferable skills which would prove useful to One Vision. Ben has a history in innovation, marketing and management, while Monica has a background in partnership marketing and events.

This led to a group call with Ben, Monica, and the One Vision Executive Board. They’re now involved in shaping the charity’s core propositions.
